Last week, Northacre revealed its partnership with award-winning international design studio Oliver Burns Studio at The Broadway, Westminster, London.
Through the partnership the London-based design firm brings its commitment to “Thoughtful Luxury” and its world-class reputation for creating bespoke, elegant spaces to Northacre’s impressive mixed-use development in the heart of Westminster, London.
A home of sanctuary and cocooning comfort, the three-bedroom, 1,625 sq ft residence features an enviable collection of design pieces and numerous bespoke furnishings, largely by local British artisans and design luminaries including ‘couture upholsterer’ Aiveen Daly, Rupert Bevan and Tom Faulkner.
An exceptional collection of artworks, orchestrated by art gallery and consultancy Dellasposa, includes lithographs, prints and sculpture. Bailey, Emin, Picasso and Warhol each take their place here, alongside rising and established artists Maggi Hambling, David Shrigley, Guy Haddon-Grant, Daniel Arsham, Tom Hammick, Nicholas Hughes and Alexander James Hamilton. Their artworks provide emboldening colour, clean lines and gestural abstraction, contributing to the sophisticated atmosphere and contemporary response of the residence’s clean lines.
Soft, fluid forms take centre stage, with curved designs signalling comfort, particularly when aligned with natural colours and organic materials. The entrance way introduces the theme with a fine, white Travertine marble console that has been sculpted into gentle shapes, complemented by walls panelled in a botanical inspired suede work by Aiveen Daly’s in rich olive green.
The living area features a curvaceous sofa and statement chair in a flowing symmetry, paired with shark-nosed stone tables in Calacatta Ice marble. The bespoke fitted joinery uses Anegre Figured veneer and a beautifully textured looped and woven rug in tones of ivory, cinnamon and olive accents completes the space.
The use of American black walnut in a custom-made curvilinear dining table anchors the essence of convivial space while offering views to the bustling city beyond. The undulating forms of the handcrafted rippled glass chandelier by Kolektiv Ateliers offer spontaneity and contrast to the angular cityscape.
Sharon Lillywhite, founder of design firm Oliver Burns, comments: “We wanted to create a beautiful bespoke and luxurious home at The Broadway. A space that offers the ultimate sanctuary, with the views a gentle reminder of the city life beyond. To promote a sense of calm and wellbeing we have thoughtfully drawn in the exterior palette, taking inspiration from not only the unique elements of the building’s architecture but also the sublime views of the London skyline.
Introducing soft earthy tones, we have combined layers of natural and organic design elements with elegant and sumptuous materials, to achieve a sophisticated, quietly luxurious, and calming environment. Throughout the apartment the spaces have been meticulously curated, with contemporary yet timeless bespoke pieces that support a sense of wellness and innovation, underpinning the very ethos of The Broadway as a unique lifestyle destination.”
