This month, Northacre unveiled our spectacular 3,218 sq ft penthouse at The Broadway. With 360-degree views across London, including Westminster Abbey, Big Ben and the London Eye, and an incredible 1,300 sq ft wrap-around roof terrace, the 16th-floor penthouse is one of the jewels in the crown of the exceptional development.
The interiors of the four-bedroom penthouse have been imagined and designed by London-based Elicyon, a studio known for providing personalised, thoughtful and visionary interiors for its global clientele. The penthouse boasts a truly unique design – transitional in style with a crisp contemporary base. Mid-century-inspired swooping curves and warm finishes are juxtaposed with unique antiques from across the country, paired with bespoke items giving this apartment both heritage and character.
“The distinct art-deco influence of the building helped to set the tone for the modern scheme seen throughout the property, accented with strong mid-century influences. Soft, swooping curves were used in the furnishings of the apartment to offer a balance to the modernist geometric patterns of the exterior whilst an array of hand-selected antiques lend an air of heritage to the space ensuring it feels characterful and collected,” Charu Gandhi, Founder of Elicyon, says.
“Rising 16 floors above the city, this unique apartment offers expansive unparalleled views of London’s most treasured landmarks. Charu and her team have created a truly special apartment that complements the striking architecture of the building and created a warm and luxurious backdrop in which to live and entertain,” Amy Wardell, Head of Brand, Northacre, says.
To celebrate the completion of our landmark development, The Broadway, we hosted a grand completion party earlier this month. Hosted within a transformed botanical oasis on Orchard Place, we welcomed special guests and partners who have been involved in the project to an evening of celebration.
Northacre purchased the site, which was formerly the Metropolitan Police Headquarters back in 2014. After securing planning permission in record time, our team made exemplary construction progress despite unforeseen challenges. We were given an entirely blank canvas and the rare privilege to create something unique in the heart of one of London’s most historic areas. It is a thrill to see it brought to life.
As well as celebrating this significant achievement, the evening provided an opportunity to say thank you to some of the many people who have helped reach this milestone. These include the teams from renowned architects Squire & Partners and main contractors Multiplex, with whom we worked to create this striking development.
This was also the first time we revealed one of The Broadway’s stunning penthouses. Designed by leading interior design and architecture studio, Elicyon (more below), guests were able to admire the sumptuous interiors and sweeping views over the Westminster skyline by night.
Welcome to the November edition of the Northacre Journal. As the weather grows colder and the evenings close in, we are looking forward to an exciting end to the year. Northacre has been delighted to welcome the first residents into their new homes at both No. 1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences and The Broadway. The unique residences at The Broadway sit above Orchard Place, a new neighbourhood created to encourage wellness, nourish its community and reinvigorate Westminster. We are thrilled to announce that the streetscape on Orchard Place is now open. The boulevard will be home to public art with shared spaces, entertainment and wellness experiences encouraging all who visit Orchard Place to embrace this Wellness Capital of London. We have lots of exciting plans for Orchard Place. An upcoming calendar of events will include special activities for all ages in the lead up to Christmas. As we enter the festive season, Orchard Place will start to become a vibrant destination, inviting all who visit into a healthy, inclusive community. We are also delighted to finally reveal the House of Walpole, our exclusive partnership with leading British luxury brands to create a bespoke one-off residence. House of Walpole – The Home of British Luxury Craftsmanship is located at our development at No. 1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences, with more details on this exciting initiative to follow. I invite you to continue reading to find out more and, as always, thank you for your support and interest in Northacre. On behalf of the entire team, I wish you a joyful and prosperous end to the year. Fawad Tariq Khan Director of Northacre and Group Chief Executive Officer of SHUAA Capital |
One of the most positive outcomes from the last few years has been the rise of excellent outdoor dining spots, particularly in London. From pop-up street seating to gardens filled with tables, the capital’s restaurants have embraced al-fresco eating in a big way.
You could easily pass by this grand house in the middle of the busy Vauxhall gyratory and have no idea of the delights that lay within. Chef Jackson Boxer has turned this Grade II listed Georgian mansion into a dining destination. The interior is stuffed full of antique trinkets, furniture and chandeliers and the wisteria vine-covered outdoor tables are just as atmospheric. Book the whole space for a special treat or grab one of the terrace tables for a memorable meal.
Hidden down a side street just off the King’s Road, Stanley’s secret garden is a blooming escape for those in the know. It takes its inspiration from the English country garden with cascading plants and blossoms covering the courtyard restaurant and orangery. Head chef Olivia Burt – one of the finalists of 2019’s Masterchef: The Professionals – perfectly complements the outdoor setting with intricate summer dishes.
This Mayfair restaurant draws in the city’s foodie crowd. Two former chefs at Dinner by Heston have created their own restaurant with a strong sustainability focus, introducing a small, ever-changing menu including dishes such as charred corn ribs, mushroom parfait with shiitake and black truffle, whole lemon sole with bacon-butter sauce and miso-heavy kombu fries. The outdoor terrace can be heated, plus it is on traffic-free Heddon Street.
LA GOCCIA PETERSHAM NURSERIES, COVENT GARDEN
This has to be the prettiest courtyard in the West End. Complete with flower installations, huge terracotta pots and the smartest outdoor furniture we’ve ever seen, this is the second restaurant from Petersham Nurseries in Covent Garden. La Goccia is more casual than Petersham next door (which also has a small number of tables outside), serving delicious plates of Italian cichetti: squid in chilli-spiked tomato salsa and white asparagus sprinkled with edible flowers.
Soho stalwart Quo Vadis had been delighting customers since 1926, and even more so now with head chef Jeremy Lee’s innovative dishes. When the weather is good, they open the few sought after tables on the street. Expect punchy pasties, super-fresh seafood platters and retro takes on classics.

Northacre’s collaboration with the globally renowned hotel brand, St. Regis, has created an extraordinary development that rewrites the standard for luxury and modern living.
Scheduled for completion this year, No. 1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences is an exceptional living experience inviting residents to ‘live exquisite’ with an array of exclusive services and facilities. These include a state-of-the-art private gym, swimming pool and sauna, 24-hour concierge, porter services and Marriott Bonvoy benefits.
Seamlessly combining five distinct architectural styles – Italian Renaissance, Beaux-Arts, French Renaissance, Queen Anne, and 21st-century Contemporary – Northacre’s first branded residence celebrates the past, present and the future of one of the world’s greatest cities. Within a historic revival building in the heart of Westminster and adjacent to Buckingham Palace, The Residences boasts one of London’s most sought-after addresses.
The Residences was originally one of London’s first five-star establishments, the Palace Hotel. Constructed in 1860, it was a popular location for Queen Victoria’s distinguished guests, with visiting dukes, duchesses and foreign dignitaries often staying following a visit to Buckingham Palace.
Satya Anand, President of Marriott International Europe, Middle East & Africa, says: “The signing of No.1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences London, marks a pivotal moment in the growth of Marriott International’s portfolio of branded residences.”
“Situated at London’s finest address, No.1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences, mark the first standalone branded residential property for St. Regis in Europe, and is set to deliver a new level of bespoke luxury living in the heart of the city.”
Walid El-Hindi, Group CEO of Northacre, says: “Northacre is delighted to join forces with St. Regis, one of the world’s most celebrated hotel brands, as we take our landmark residence through completion over the coming months.”
“The bespoke service St. Regis is known for, combined with our passion for creating extraordinary buildings that are environmentally and architecturally exceptional, will enable us to deliver the ultimate London address whilst enhancing the health and wellbeing of our residents.”
No.1 Palace Street, The St. Regis Residences, offers 72 individually-designed, one to five bedroom apartments and penthouses available for purchase.
After an uncertain few years, there is again an air of optimism among the people of London. At Northacre, we are embracing this feeling of positive change as we celebrate June’s milestone projects and share our exciting plans for the future.
This month, we revealed our unique collaboration with world-renowned hotel brand, St. Regis. No. 1 Palace Street. The St. Regis Residences is an iconic heritage restoration development promising a luxury living experience like no other. As one of London’s most coveted addresses, adjacent to Her Majesty’s official London residence, Buckingham Palace, the 300,000 sq ft island site features 72 luxurious apartments, blending world-class facilities with impeccable service. With its rich history, flawless design and unmatched services from St. Regis, a selection of apartments from one to five bedrooms and penthouses are still available for purchase.
In addition, we are thrilled to be able to share an update on the interior design over at The Broadway, which will soon be welcoming residents. US based interior design and architecture studio, Nainoa, have been selected as the interior design studio for the communal areas. Final concepts and designs are underway and we look forward to sharing progress on site soon.
Tucked between the six striking towers of The Broadway, Orchard Place is set to open in time for the Christmas period. The new Wellness Capital of London, Orchard Place is a contemporary lifestyle destination imagined to encourage wellness, nourish its community and reinvigorate Westminster. In the coming months, we will share more about the retail offering of this vibrant lifestyle ecosystem designed to nurture body, mind and soul.
This month also sees Northacre unveil its global expansion and plans for growth, underpinned by our core purpose: to enable healthier and longer lives. Our vision is to become a Global Leader in Sustainable Real Estate and Wellbeing. To achieve this, we will fund, create and manage a diverse portfolio of global projects focused on sustainability and enhancing health and wellbeing where people live, work, learn and play.
Combining Investment Management, Development Management and Asset Management, we will create robust investments that deliver profitable and sustainable real estate and wellbeing-focused projects in the UK and MENA region across three verticals. With Easter fast approaching, see our summary of the best luxury chocolate shops in London.
Alluringly sweet and ethically made, Cartografie is a new chocolate company created by The Ritz’s ex-pastry chef Kae Shibata and Sven-Hanson Britt – with ingredients sourced directly from farmers.
Belgian chocolatier and pastry chef Pierre Marcolini’s Marylebone outpost is home to carousels of pastel-hued macarons and towers of éclairs in flavours ranging from lemon and bergamot to piña colada.
Dark Sugars founder Nyanga spent three years researching the art of cocoa production on a farm in Ghana before launching her shop in Brick Lane. Her tantalising creations include iridescent pearl chocolates and impossibly rich “overdose” truffles – and there are plenty of specialist options for vegans.
Founded in 1983, Rococo now has shops dotted around the city – but the original site on the King’s Road in Chelsea is still a favourite thanks to its mesmerising displays of nougat, truffles, and pralines. Treat your loved ones to their beautifully-packaged artisan bars, which come in flavours ranging from rose to basil and Persian lime, and are available to purchase via their website.
Pierre Hermé began training as a pastry chef in Paris at just 14-years-old. Forty-two years later, and he has his own confectionary empire – with a cult following based around his pistachio macarons. The chocolate bonbons are the ultimate hostess gift.
The Meet the Makers series has been created to showcase the key contributors for the House of Walpole, a one-off residence at No.1 Palace Street that highlights the very best in British Luxury and Craftsmanship. Designed by Walpole member Oliver Burns, The House of Walpole will feature iconic pieces from British luxury brands, such as the beautifully crafted wallpaper by Cole and Son.
This month we had the opportunity to hear more about the project from Sharon Lillywhite, Founding Partner of Oliver Burns in an exclusive interview.
What was the inspiration behind the design?
The inspiration for our design comes from the palace gardens, which are steeped in history and intrigue and have long been a focus for national and royal celebrations. House of Walpole is a modern re-telling of our favourite stories from this treasured sanctuary; an endless source of inspiration that has been weaved through the design in both a subtle and overt way to create a love letter to the garden’s enduring beauty, transformation, and resilience.
Can you explain the vision for the House of Walpole?
Our vision for the space is to create a ‘one of a kind’ super-prime home that honours the heritage and pedigree of the location and celebrates the very best of British. From interiors, fashion, beauty, and art through to food, drink and automotive, we have taken a thoughtful, multi-sensory approach to the brief that mixes both timeless British institutions and the new guard in a thoroughly modern way. This design goes beyond the aesthetic to reflect our ethos of Thoughtful Luxury and is underpinned by The Northacre Way.
Why did you choose No. 1 Palace Street?
No.1 Palace Street is an iconic location with a beautiful mix of architectural styles. The listed Buckingham Gate façade which the stunning duplex apartment sits behind is the jewel in the crown of this heritage revival. It has wonderful views of Buckingham Palace and its private gardens, amazing history and has been exquisitely restored by Northacre for modern living. I love the high ceilings (over 3m) and the gorgeous balconies. It’s the perfect backdrop for The Home of British Luxury Craftmanship.
What is your favourite story from the palace gardens and how have you applied this to the interior design?
My favourite story from the palace gardens is a love story. Over 150 years ago Queen Victoria and her consort, Prince Albert planted plane trees to celebrate their anniversary. The broad canopies of the pair of trees now reach up and touch one another, symbolising the royal couple’s enduring love. As a tribute to this story, we asked Helen Amy Murray to create a stunning 3m high hand-sculpted feature art wall in varying degrees of relief that represents these sublime trees. Such a beautiful story for an incurable romantic.
What will you be most proud of on completion?
Bringing together Britain’s best loved luxury brands in one ultra-luxurious space has been a real labour of love! The teamwork involved from our team, Northacre and Walpole has been immense and to see our vision come to life will be a proud moment. I’m delighted that we’ve been entrusted to capture the inherent beauty of this regal address, and I’m looking forward to raising a glass to her Majesty whilst looking out over this enchanting garden.
Thank you Sharon for this fantastic interview.
No.1 Palace Street is nearing completion and we are pleased to announce that, as well as the House of Walpole, the world-class facilities are advancing well. The landscaping of the private courtyard is progressing at pace whilst the emerald green tiling of the outstanding 20-metre pool is being laid and the grand, porte cochère entrance is nearing completion.
With the final touches being made to No.1 Palace Street, including the light and airy reception area with its spectacular cantilever architectural feature, we can’t wait to reveal the fantastic restoration of this masterpiece in the summer.
The Broadway is London’s newest and most innovative residential living quarter. Steeped in iconic architecture and a revival of Art Deco design, the six towers that form this modern-day masterpiece epitomise the best in urban living and true British design.
One of our favourite features of this new development is the breathtaking views across London’s skyline featuring the iconic city of Westminster, St. James Park and Big Ben. Each of the six Broadway towers looks out onto one of these unique views. For instance, the Cullinan towers look out onto Victoria Street, while the twin corners of the Paragon towers look towards the skyline of The Houses of Parliament and Victoria itself. The last pair, the Sancy towers, feature incredible views of Southbank, the London skyline and Buckingham Palace.
We’re very excited to be welcoming the first residents to The Broadway at the end of summer.
If you’d like to book a private viewing of The Broadway with one of our specialist team members or for more information click here.
